Happy Birthday Nina!

Today is Suzanne's (Nina's) birthday, although we celebrated it last night. We went out for a nice dinner and gave her her birthday gift. Jack thought an Ipod Touch would be a great way for Nina to hear her favorite music.....so an Ipod Touch it was!

Red Rocks

Today we took the day off from skiing and went on a little road trip. We went to Evergreen (a suburb of Denver) and on our way back we happened on Red Rocks. I had of course heard of Red Rocks being the music lover that I am, but I had no idea it was in Colorado. If you have never heard of Red Rocks it is an amphitheater that everyone from The Beatles to U2 to The Police has played. You name them and they have played there. So beside the fact that the amphitheater has an amazing history, it is a BEAUTIFUL park that still offers a fantastic concert line-up every summer. We so much fell in love with Red Rocks that we are already talking about visiting in the summer so we can also catch a great show. I took about a hundred pictures today so I posted some of my favorites below. I hope they capture the beauty and the magnitude of these great rocks!

A Ride On The "Ola"

"Ola" would be the newest addition to Jack's vocabulary, and no it's not Spanish. Bumpa and Nina took Jack on a gond"ola" ride up the mountain today and he LOVED it! He has been saying the word all day and can't wait to go again.

These are pictures that Bronson and I took on the mountain today. We had the bright idea of taking the Canon up to get some really good pictures. Bronson wanted to take the harder run and I wanted the easier run because I was a little nervous about taking the good camera up to 11,000 feet! But Bronson won out and we took the harder run. All I can say is that these are the pictures we got before I fell down the hill, with the camera in hand....and it was far from a graceful fall. It was a full out roll down the hill with skis flying up and my poles half up the hill kind of fall. I think I was yelling as I was rolling "OH NO, OH NO" and I'm pretty sure everyone around us thought I was either crazy or that I had broken something. I had worked myself up so much that I fell just skiing about 15 feet to where Bronson was standing. It was TERRIBLE!! But the good news is that the camera is alright. I don't think Bronson was even concerned with my welfare at that point (although the only thing I damaged was my ego). As I lay there blubbering, he quickly snatched the camera up and began drying it off. Needless to say, I think we'll reconsider next time we get a "bright idea"!

Swimming and Video Games

This morning Suzanne and I went skiing while the boys went swimming. Here are a few shots from their morning.

Then this afternoon, Bronson and I went skiing while Nina and Bumpa took Jack to play some video games. He loves games and especially, pinball. Nina and Bumpa have a pinball machine at their house and Jack says “peenball” all the time. He loves it! Although there unfortunately was no “peenball”, there were some driving games Jack was quite fond of.

Finally, I wanted to share this great shirt I got in downtown Breck this evening. We were walking by a store and I saw it in the window and I knew I just had to have it! What do you think??

Sledding Trip

Today, Bronson and I decided to take the day off from skiing, so we all went to a local park this morning to take Jack sledding. Again, it was REALLY cold and I think Jack was officially a popsicle after 5 minutes exposure in the sub-degree weather. After two trips down the hill he had had enough and started crying. Even though the trip wasn’t long lived, I still got some pretty cute pictures.

Here are just a few pictures I took from the balcony of our room. Most of these pictures are looking at the main lodge. We are staying at a ski-in ski-out place and I must say it’s pretty nice to step out of the room, throw your skis on, and head to the slopes.

Hello from Breckenridge

I know some of our family and friends are waiting for updates, so here are a few pictures to tide you over.

Today was our first full day in Breck and Bronson and I hit the slopes while Nina and Bumpa (aka Doug and Suzanne) took Jack around the town.

These are a few pictures I took from the mountain. It was REALLY cold and snowing all day. I by no means am an excellent skier, but I do okay. My goal was to not fall once for the entire trip and after about an hour of skiing I took my first tumble. As I was lying face down in the snow, I heard Bronson say as he passed me , "You have been defeated". Now I might not be as skilled as my husband, but for not skiing in 4 years, I was pretty proud of myself, even if I did fall!

Here are some other pictures from the day. I think it's safe to say Jack is enjoying himself!
