The Perfect, Lazy Sunday

Today, Bronson had to work all day, so I decided to pack up the car, the kid, and the dog and head down to my parent's house for a little R & R.

My parents live in a log home surrounded completely by woods, so it's a great getaway when I just want to escape my busy life for a little while. Because it is surrounded by trees, the temperature in their house on a day like today is PERFECT!! Having all the windows open with the slight breeze blowing equaled the recipe for a "perfect, lazy Sunday"....which is my favorite kind of day, by the way.

Jack played while my mom and I talk and enjoyed the screened in back porch and some great chicken salad :) Rudi played outside while my dad tinkered in the garage and finally sometime in the afternoon Jack got a little tired, so we took a nap. If only everyday could be this perfect!!

Daddy's Idea of Babysitting

This morning I had an early conference call, so Bronson had to watch Jack for a little bit. By the time I got off the call, neither were anywhere to be found. So I looked out the window and this is what I saw:

Bronson is probably the busiest person I know and has about 20 irons in the fire at all times. As a result he has learned to multi-task quite well. So I see Bronson across the street giving direction to the block layers with one hand and holding Jack with the other. It was really quite cute :) If you are wondering, Bronson is building a house across the street because he needed something else to do. Really, I'm kidding. If he finds one more thing to do I think I'll scream...but he wouldn't have it any other way!

10 Months

It is hard to believe that our son will be 1 year in just 2 short months. Boy, does time fly! I wanted to give an update on what Jack is doing these days. I know that we have a lot of friends and family that live far away that read this blog. I'm always posting pictures of Jack, but I rarely talk about what he's actually doing and what developmental milestones he's reached. So, for a 10 month post, I thought that might be appropriate.

As far as his weight goes, be is above average (at 9 months he was 20 lbs.). He's still a big boy, but his rapid growth has slowed a little since he has started crawling. He waves bye, which is absolutely precious, and has even said it a couple of times. He can also say "ma-ma", "da-da", and says "all gone" and "thank you" sometimes too. He can also kiss whenever I ask for one, although he just leans toward me with his wet, slobbery, little mouth wide open, which is also precious by the way.

He pulls himself up and can cruise around holding on to things, but the idea of balancing and taking a step on his own is still a little daunting. He LOVES music and dances to the t.v and even my singing. I think he is definitely destined to be talented in dancing, singing, instrument playing, or all of the above.

So, as you can imagine, his birthday party planning is already underway. Jack is absolutely mesmerized by that big purple dinosaur....so it looks like Barney may be the theme. I don't really understand his fascination, but he could watch Barney all day if I would let him...so it only seems fitting!

Here are a few pictures I took this evening. Our usual ritual is to get our jammies on and then he walks around the coffee table while I watch a little t.v. before it's his bottle and lights out at 8 o'clock.

This is the Kind of Friend I Have!

I got home this evening to find this on my porch. If you can't read the tag, it says "Banana Friendship Bread: Made with love, thankfulness, and lots of calories. Love, Melissa". Melissa is one of the kindest, most thoughtful people I have ever met and I'm so lucky that she is also my best friend! I would be lost without her!

House Pictures

I must admit that Bronson and I have been a little slow to complete the inside of the house. I really wanted to wait until it was more complete to post pictures....but that might be never. Not really, we will finish, but things have REALLY slowed down. We have actually been enjoying some of our time off.

The outside is another story. We are waiting for warm and dry weather to start painting and to get both on the same day takes a miracle!! So I guess I will continue to take questions from people like, "What's wrong with your siding?" and "Why do you have block pillars in front of your house?". I have to say that I do appreciate people's interest in our house, but I thought it was a little obvious that it isn't done. Maybe I should just stick a sign in the yard answering all questions :)

The first pictures are of the kitchen and living room. It is my most favorite room in the house. It is soooo nice having one big room. It is where everyone congregates and I don't feel cut off from the family when I'm cooking or cleaning up the kitchen.

A view from the kitchen to the study/ entertaining room. We don't really have a name for the room and actually just recently decided on it's function! And yes....there is still only a piano in this room. It is in serious need of some furniture.

A pic of our bedroom. I really like the wall color and the craftsman-like feel. I think Frank Lloyd Wright would be proud!

This has been our latest undertaking. I know it still doesn't look like much, but we have seriously spent two weeks laying the massive amount of granite tile in our bathroom. This is our "party shower". I say that because everyone who sees it says.."You could have a party in that shower". What can I say? We like a lot of room to bathe!

This is the sink area that has no mirrors, so we still use the bathroom upstairs....but it's getting closer!

Stay tuned for more pictures. Hopefully now the weather is getting nicer we can finally finish and I won't be so embarrassed to post more pictures.

"Hoppy" Easter!

We started our Easter morning early today. I fixed breakfast this morning and my mom and Bronson's mom, Stacy, and Bhrett came over. I made quiche, which was the easy part, and Brons was in charge of the pancakes and bacon, which was the really messy part.

I think my mom felt sorry for Brons and decided to help out.

Instead of getting Jack the traditional Easter basket, my parents got him this adorable wagon, complete with seat belts, a door for easy access, and cup holders for all those cold drinks Jack needs will mommy and daddy pull him around the park!

Nanny and Pops got Jack a pail full of summer goodies for his many trips to swim this summer at their house.

After church we headed to G'pa Doug and G'ma Suzanne's house for lunch. Jack, of course, was very excited to see G'pa!

The Easter Bunny also visited G'pa and G'ma's house! Boy he got around this morning!

He got an adorable stuffed black bear and some adorable summer outfits! But as you can see, he was more interested in eating the card.

The Beaver Strikes Again!!

Judging from this picture, you would think that possibly a small gnawing creature, such as a beaver, got a hold of this coffee table. But you probably guessed it....that small gnawing creature is not a beaver at all. It just so happens to be my son (*DISCLAIMER*: Children and beavers can have similar destructive effects on furniture). While we were away in the Caribbean, Jack stayed with G'ma and G'pa Parrish for part of the time and decided to wreak havoc on the furniture...as you can see!

Jack also likes to visit G'pa in his office.

Jack and G'ma enjoy going for an afternoon stroll around the neighborhood.

Zippers can be very confusing for a little boy!

He also gets around pretty well holing on to things.

Ok, this picture just really makes me wonder what he could be so upset about. It is a little funny I have to say. He's either mad that G'ma isn't feeding him fast enough because she's too busy taking pictures or that lasagna dinner didn't suit his pallet. It really could be either of the two :)

Vacation Pictures

Sorry it has taken so long. Here are a few pics from the cruise. I have to say out of all the ports, we really enjoyed Honduras. What a beautiful country! It was a wonderful, relaxing vacation and we had a blast with the Farley's.

A pic of Honduras coast line from the ship.

More Beautiful Honduras.

Remind me to never shoplift in Belize!!! Yikes!!!

Bronson at Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman.

It looks like Melissa is posing for this picture, but she's really giving Farley her mean face. I wish I looked that cute when I was mad!
