Sperry Love

I am always in search of cute AND comfortable shoes. For my job, I wear high heels everyday and few I've found are very comfortable. So in the evenings and weekends I like to be as comfy as possible.

Last year I bought a pair of these Sperry Bluefish Linen Oat and I think by far they are the most "used" pair of shoes I own! They definitely don't look as pretty as the picture below anymore, but everyone (guys and girls) should own a pair of boat shoes. Very versatile and very stylish. And by the way, Jack and I have matching shoes. He loves his Sperry's too!
In the last several years Sperry has added even more shoes and styles to their collection to include some snakeskin and sequins. I don't think I'm to the point of loving those just yet (sorry Sperry), but when I saw the new Sperry Angelfish in Gold Metallic, it was love at first site! I ordered these babies last week and I can't wait to add them to my spring/summer wardrobe!

Meet the Trainers of CrossFit Marion

I have been going to CrossFit for 3 weeks now and I'm totally addicted! I have been committed to a healthier lifestyle for over 4 months now. I have lost 20 pounds and feel great! So when my friend Mandy asked me to go with her, it was a no brainer.

Fortunately for me, I had been doing some cardio and strength training prior to going, otherwise I'm pretty sure I would have died. I'm now going 4-5 times a week and couldn't be any happier with the results, not to mention my elevated mood and self-esteem! This past Saturday, CrossFit Marion hosted their first 5K. And in true CrossFit fashion, it was actually more like a 6K (although no one knew this prior to running). It was approximately 3.7 miles, which I finished in 45 minutes. Now that by no means is a stellar performance, but it was my first 5K and my goal was to just finish...and that I did! Bronson even ran finishing overall 9th place in 28 minutes.

So here are the headshots and group shot I took for the trainers Saturday to celebrate the Grand Opening and first 5K celebration! The last pic is of me and the girls after our almost 4 mile run finish! For more information regarding CrossFit Marion you can visit them on facebook or their website: CrossFit Marion

New Beauty Faves

I have recently been following Emily Eddington and her product suggestions along with her many wonderful tutorials. If you click on her name it will take you to her YouTube channel for anyone interested or not familiar. She's amazing! But after reading some of her most recent blog posts, I have been prompted to try several new products that I'm now loving. It only seems fair that I share it with all of you....

1. Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream: BB Creams seem to be all the craze now so I thought I'd try it for myself to see what the fuss was all about. I opted for Smashbox's version.  I picked some up at Sephora and I absolutely LOVE it. Your first question, if you're not familiar, is probably "What the heck is BB Cream?". Well hopefully the visual below will help with that. I highly recommend this product. I haven't tried any other brands, but Smashbox just rocks anyway!

2. Bare Essentials BUXOM Lip Cream: Again, I have never tried the lipglosses, but last week I picked up some lipcream in Creamsicle. I'm a self-confessed lipgloss junkie, so needless to say, this product has only made things worse for me. I want this lipcream in every color! I have never had people actually comment on my lips prior to using this, but I get complements, quite often! This blog (Beauty Junkies Unite) has done an excellent review of the product and actually shows some of the colors on. And they are available again at Sephora.

3. Urban Decay's All-Nighter Long Lasting Make-Up Spray: This is a spray that is applied after your make-up is complete to set it and make it last longer. Again, I've been very pleased and my make-up even looks great after sweating.......a lot! It's also available at Sephora.

A Book Review: 11/22/63 by Stephen King

.

As a former US History teacher, the cover of this book naturally sparked my interest. However, my unfortunate stereo-type of Mr. King’s writing led me to pass it by every time.

Let’s face it, when you think Stephen King you think The Shining, Carrie, and Pet Cemetery. Not about the man who wrote The Green Mile, authored many different books under several pseudonyms, wrote scores of screenplays, collections, and even some non-fiction. Lesson learned here: Don’t judge a book by its cover (pun intended).

Without a doubt, King is a master wordsmith. Few authors “wow” me with their eloquence AND storytelling, but Stephen King managed to do both all the while proving my typecast absolutely wrong.

In a brief synopsysis, the story involves a high school English teacher who travels back in time to attempt to stop the Kennedy Assassination, hence the book’s title: 11/22/63. There are several other plot lines and themes, such as the past and present “harmonize” instead of history “repeating”. And the past is also “obstinate” and fights against change which leads Jake/George through his many confrontations. But I think anyone can find this storyline thought-provoking: having knowledge of a horrific event before it happens, attempting to thwart the evil plan, and therefore changing the course of history forever (and the better)…..

As winner of The New York Times Book Review “10 Best Books” Award for 2011, I promise you will not be disappointed in this one, history lover or not!

A Few Lost Photos

If you follow me on facebook at all you probably know by now that I've recently launched an advertising campaign.  I currently have displays up at T.J.'s Fine Jewelry in Carbondale, Art of Hair Salon in Murphysboro, Family Drug in Carterville, and Louie's P&R in Herrin. I have more sites coming soon, but I'll wait until my displays are up to reveal those locations.

To this point I haven't really made much effort to market KPP and I need to know if this is a viable option or not. I REALLY want to build a studio and launch some HUGE plans, but I figured I needed to make an honest effort at advertising first!

So as I have been collecting pictures to display at local businesses, I came across these photos that never made it to post.  I guess I was a little busy last fall (these were actually taken last September) and the lack of Jack picture posting suffered as a result.  And lately my excuse has been just a lack of cooperation on his part.....and by "lack of " I mean ZERO.
